There are rumors that the latest Android 2.1 build was in beta testing and now some screens have leaked out. German site MobiFlip has posted the first screens of Android 2.1 running on the Motorola Milestone (Droid). They refer to the update as 2.0.2, but the screens show firmware version 2.1 .

The European version of Droid – the Motorola Milestone has been finally rooted for full file system access on Android 2.0. This has been made possible by folks over at the German site named Android-Hilfe.de (English translated version). Motorola Milestone Android 2.0 handset spotted in UK
The Motorola Milesetone, otherwise known as the Droid in the US, looks set to hit the UK early next month.
The Android handset has been spotted at a handful of online retailers that state the phone will be available from December 7, despite Motorola saying that there were no plans to release the phone in the UK.
The phone is available from Superetrader, Clove and Expansys for £424, sim-free. Last month we confirmed the Droid wouldn’t be sold by T-Mobile or O2, so it could still be sold via 3 mobile, Orange or Vodafone.
If the sites do have the phone in stock, then it’s likely that the Milestone will be available in mobile phone shops before Christmas.

European buyers get a wired hands-free kit whereas US owners of the Verizon DROID found no such accessory in the box. Vodafone are also offering a free multimedia station to the first 1,000 people to buy the smartphone.

Motorola MILESTONE Official – Google Maps Navigator No, Multi-Touch Yes
Motorola Europe have today confirmed that the first Android 2.0 handset to launch across Europe will be the Motorola MILESTONE (aka Motorola DROID).
Whilst the hardware and spec of the two handsets is identical, the Motorola MILESTONE will include multi-touch support – a feature sadly lacking on the Motorola DROID.
The bad news however is that the Motorola MILESTONE will not include the recently unveiled Google Maps Navigation app, but instead will be bundled with the MOTONAV software.
The Motorola MILESTONE will go on sale first in Italy (O2) and Germany (Vodafone) from November 9th.
Still no word on a UK release date or possible pricing.
