3 Motorola Android phones you can’t have
Motorola is planning over 20 Motorola Android phones for 2010 and Android and Me has some details about three Motorola Android phones that aren’t coming to the US soon:
Motorola MT710
The MT710 is a stylish tablet style phone headed for China Mobile. The device runs the latest version of the OPhone platform (China Mobile’s version of Android) and will support their TD-SCDMA 3G network.

Motorola XT800

The XT800 is another China bound phone with some interesting features. A Cortex A8 processor (same as Droid) is powering the device but the speed is unknown. This phone will also capture high definition video and support 720p playback via HDMI. The XT800 also doubles as a bedside clock with built in FM radio and an optional desktop dock.
Motorola XT701
Finally we have the XT701, which many people have been referring to as the Sholes Tablet. This phone is said to feature the same specs that we saw in the Verizon Droid, with a few minor tweaks. Most notable is the lack of a physical keyboard that came with the Droid. Other changes will include an 8 megapixel camera with xenon flash and a FM radio.

Android 2.1-equipped Motorola Sholes tablet spied in China as XT701?
Engadget has a number of pictures of an keyboard-less handset with a 3.7-inch screen, Android 2.1, FM radio, and interestingly enough, only a 5 megapixel camera. Also debatable is a HDMI port, since the image that would show it is a tad too blurry. It also seems destined for China Unicom as the XT701 (analogous to China Mobile’s Motorola Android device).

Motorola’s Android-powered Sholes tablet breaks cover, HDMI port spotted!
The mythical Motorola Sholes tablet is starting to become reality. Since before the launch of the Android-powered Motorola Droid and its slide-out QWERTY keyboard, we’ve been hearing rumors that Motorola has a slate-style (tablet) variant in the works – the Sholes tablet.
Today we now know that the Motorola Sholes tablet picks up where the Droid left off. It’s got the same 3.7-inch 854 x 480 touchscreen, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a robot-chic design aesthetic. Taking things a bit further, we learn that the Sholes sports an 8-megapixel autofocusing camera, HDMI-out port, a TI OMAP 3430 Cortex A8 processor possibly clocked at 800Mhz, multi-touch support and Motorola’s Crystal Talk DSP call enhancement technology. We’re also expecting the Sholes to launch next year with the latest Android 2.1 OS on board, possibly on T-Mobile’s US network.

Motorola Android Rumors
Filed under: CLIQ, Motorola Droid, Motorola Motus, Sholes, T-Mobile
Android and me has some rumors that are relevant to the Motorola Droid and Motorola Cliq:
Motorola Cliq: the Cliq might be stuck with Android 1.x. Rumor has it that Motorola has not budgeted to bring up all the device drivers for Android 2.0.
Motorola Motus: this device will launch in Q1 and be powered by Android 1.5. The phone is essentially the same internals as the Cliq (Qualcomm 528 MHz CPU).
Motorola Sholes Tablet: The phone is essentially a Motorola Droid minus the keyboard and with an updated camera. This device is headed for T-Mobile in Q1 2010 and will feature Motoblur.
Based on these maybe T-Mobile users should skip the Cliq and wait for the Motorola Sholes Tablet?
Motorola Droid May Be Released by T-Mobile USA
Verizon is going to launch the much-anticipated Motorola Droid later this week, and an unconfirmed report says this high-end Android-based smartphone is also on its way to T-Mobile USA.
T-Mobile already offers several smartphones running Google’s OS, but none of them have the Droid’s 3.7-inch, WVGA+ display.
The evidence that this model is on the way to T-Mobile comes from a leaked screen taken from Motorola’s intranet. This shows a list of this company’s Android-based phones for T-Mobile, including two that haven’t been announced yet (see screenshot here):
Sholes UMTS T-Mobile US
Sholes Tablet T-Mobile US
The code-name for the Motorola Droid is Sholes, so apparently a version of this smartphone with support for T-Mobile’s 3G service (which uses UMTS) is in development.
Equally intriguing is the mention of a tablet version. This will likely offer the Droid’s large touchscreen without the sliding keyboard.
When either of these versions will be released is not known.
Also on the leaked list is the Morrison, the code-name for the Motorola Cliq, which is already available.

GSM Motorola Sholes hits FCC
Interesting news for the non-Verizon users: the GSM version of the Motorola Sholes got certification this week from the FCC. What was strange was that the Motorola Sholes already cleared the FCC last month, in Verizon-ready CDMA form (Verizon Droid). This is probably the EU version of the Sholes.
