Motorola Sholes and Calgary in Verizon's internal tools

BGR updates that the “Cellebrites”, the devices used by Verizon employees to transfer customers data from phone to phone, started showing the Motorola A855 Sholes/Shules/Droid/Tao and the Calgary A555. That’s not a surprise for the Droid which, based on current rumor, is due out October 30, but it is an interesting update on the Motorola Calgary.

Motorola Sholes and Motorola Torch battery covers

Motorola published press shots of the battery covers of both the Sholes (Motorola Tao, Motorola Droid) and the Torch. Notable is the fact that they’re showing two versions of the Sholes’ cover, one with a Verizon logo and one without, so this is a strong indicator that there’ll be a second model — most likely for overseas GSM markets.

Sholes, Tao or Droid

The Motorola Android phone for Verizon used to be called the Sholes, then Tao, and today the new rumor is Motorola Droid.

Anyway you want to call it, the Motorola Android Sholes/Tao/Droid will not come with MOTOBLUR but instead be a straight Google device, but it will have support for Adobe Flash.
Updated specs for the Sholes/Tao/Droid include:

  • 3.7″ screen
  • 854×480 WVGA capacitive screen
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • ARM Cortex 500MHz CPU
  • Facial recognition using the built-in camera (apparently you take a photo of someone and Google will pull in search results based on the image)
  • Custom Motorola Interface/UI, no MOTOBLUR, no Verizon UI
  • Available in black and titanium colors

There will be a keyboard-less version that’s planned for 2010.
