Motorola to get Android 2.1 update soon – includes multitouch browser
According to inside information, Verizon will soon be releasing an updated for the DROID pushing out the new Android 2.1. This should help bring the DROID up to date with all the current features of the Google Nexus One.
The update will be based on the Android 2.1 version 1, which will be the same as the update pushed OTA to the Nexus One last week. The Google Goggles app now comes pre-installed. The new browser will now include multitouch enabled like Google Maps 3.4, but still lacks Flash support. The home screen looks pretty much the same as 2.0.1, and Nexus One’s rotating 3D grid of app icons is still missing. Active wallpapers haven’t been included. Other new stuff includes the news and weather widgets introduced on the Nexus One. The missing features could be due to the extra processing horsepower that they may require.
There is still no word on when the update will be coming out.

Motorola Zeppelin may be the Cliq XT, may launch March 10 on T-Mobile
New info regarding the Motorola Zeppelin, if this slide, purportedly from an internal T-Mobile presentation, is to believed:
1.) It’ll be called the Cliq XT.
2.) It’ll be available on March 10.

Motorola Droid gets official multitouch support — in Google Maps
Not even a week after announcing the big multitouch update for its own Nexus One, Google has turned loose a new version of Google Maps that enables pinch-to-zoom support on the Droid. Of course, it was no secret that Android 2.0 had the framework in place to support this kind of stuff — Moto enabled it all by its lonesome on the Euro-spec Milestone — but it looks like this could be the watershed moment where multitouch finally becomes a must-have feature on Android devices across the board, as Moto CEO Sanjay Jha recently suggested would happen.

Motorola Zeppelin likely headed to T-Mobile on March 10
Gizmodo Brazil posted some new pictures of the Motorola Zeppelin which is likely headed to T-Mobile. Android And Me reports that the device has support for T-Mobile USA 3G bands and TmoNews is reporting a launch date of March 10, 2010.
No price point has been announced, but we would expect it to launch around $149 with 2 year agreement.
Rumored specs of the Zeppelin include:
- Qualcomm MSM7201 528 MHz CPU
- 512 MB flash ROM, 256 MB RAM
- 3.1 inch capacitive display HVGA (480×320)
- 5 megapixel camera with autofocus
- WiFi 802.11 b/g, GPS, Bluetooth
- Android 1.5 with Motoblur

Could Moto’s Android go the way of Razr? Analysts hope not
Motorola unveiled its Devour Android phone, part of its Google Android portfolio. Motorola aims to launch 20 such phones this year. But will it suffer the same fate as the Razr, which was wildly successful but then suffered with overkill?
Schaumburg-based Motorola Inc. this week unveiled another in its new portfolio of Google Android smartphones. This one was called Devour, featuring a touch screen, a keyboard and its MotoBlur application to harness social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Devour follows Cliq, Droid and Backflip. They’re all with the same Android platform and MotoBlur app. But let’s hope the Android line doesn’t go the way of the Razr, offering just a variation on the same theme until users get tired of them.
Devour does distinguish itself with a new touch-sensitive navigation pad in the lower right corner to navigate widgets and the Internet.

Motorola Devours Verizon’s Droid Brand With New Motoblur Phone
jk on the run writes about the Devour and the Verizon Droid brand. Here is a highlight:
I’m glad I’m not the only one that doesn’t quite get Verizon’s Droid branding for handsets. There’s nothing wrong with the name, but it’s confusing to have a single handset share the name as a line of handsets. Perhaps that’s why the next Droid in line is simply called the Motorola Devour. Or maybe we’ll see more Droids out of the robot factory — who knows? I do know that the Devour looks a little more modern and polished than the original Droid and that Motorola also included its custom Motoblur interface for fast access to social networking. The Devour is the first Verizon phone with Motoblur.

What is this Motorola Android phone?
The folks at Gizmodo Brazil got their mitts on this device, and it looks like a Backflip without the crazy keyboard. The front is described as “more garish” than the Backflip. It’s running MotoBlur.
Because it has MotoBlur, it’s running Android 1.5. There’s no way to tell if this will get a wide release in European and the U.S. market.

Verizon Makes the Android OS-Based Motorola Devour Official
After weeks of rumors, Verizon has officially announced that it will begin offering the Motorola Devour next month. Like the popular Motorola Droid, this model will have Google’s Android OS and a physical keyboard. The Devour is expected to have a lower price, though.
he Devour will be a slider, with a 3.1-inch, HVGA (320 by 480 pixel) capacitive touchscreen that can slide aside to reveal a landscape-oriented QWERTY keyboard. Next to the display will be a trackpad.
Android Powered
This model will debut with Android OS 1.6, and have the standard suite of software for connecting to Google services, like Gmail and YouTube. User will also be able to pick from over 20,000 third-party apps.
In addition, the Devour will be the first Verizon model with MotoBlur, Motorola’s software that brings together messages from a range of social-networking services like Facebook and Twitter, text messages, as well as consumer and business e-mail accounts, into a universal inbox.

Motorola Devour will include: Android 1.6 (Donut) with MotoBLUR. A 3.1-inch touchscreen (320×480). 3MP camera. Verizon is requiring a data plan, and the $350 early termination fee is in effect. It comes with an 8GB microSD card.
Still no word on price or when it will go on sale, but we’re told it could be anytime now.
