As if Android needed yet another endorsement, it turns out that Martin Cooper — the inventor of the cellular telephone who pretty much is responsible for all of us being here at this fine Web site today — is the proud owner of a Motorola Droid.

Motorola Android Opus One is the Boost Mobile i1

The phone known as the Motorola Opus One is going to be named the Boost Mobile i1. The i1 was recently spotted on the FCC web site and is expected to be announced during CTIA later this month.
Motorola is aiming for the low end and the i1 might be the lowest priced Android device at launch. Look for this phone to debut under $300.

Android Comes to AT&T Via Motorola Backflip
U.S. cell service provider and Apple iPhone partner AT&T stepped into the Google Android world with the addition of the Motorola Backflip to its mobile phone lineup.
While the Backflip’s design won’t likely lead to lower iPhone sales, the phone gives AT&T customers an Android-based option, potentially keeping at least some of its subscribers looking for an Android-based phone from moving to Verizon or T-Mobile.

Motorola CLIQ XT for T-Mobile
Pocket Now has the Cliq XT, and they shared some information and pictures about it:
The device runs MOTOBLUR on top of Android 1.5 and is designed as a slate/tablet form factor for T-Mobile. Specs-wise, it uses a similar processor to the MOTO CLIQ. What’s notable is that Motorola included two back battery covers.

AT&T Motorola Backflip To Include Yahoo! As Default Search Engine
AT&T’s first Android powered handset, the Motorola Backflip, will use Yahoo! as its default search engine.
According to a report by BusinessWeek, the Motorola Backflip will feature Yahoo! as the default search engine, although users will be able to manually change the provider to Google if they wish. The Backflip will be the first Android handset to not feature Google as the default search engine.

Android 2.1 leaks for Motorola Droid
As many Droid owners know, Motorola promised the Android 2.1 update was coming “this week” which later turned into coming soon. No further updates have been provided since then, but someone leaked a near final firmware (which is expected to be used for the upcoming OTA update).
Kellex from Droid Life was brave enough to flash the leaked ROM on his Droid and found the performance to be improved.

T-Mobile Motorola CLIQ XT Price and Photos Emerge
The Motorola CLIQ XT has been already expected to arrive at T-Mobile as a rather affordable device, and a leaked document the guys over at TmoNews grabbed recently shows exactly that. It seems that the handset will be priced at $129.99 after a rebate and upon the signing of a two year agreement with the carrier, but users will also be able to purchase it free of contract, case in which they would have to pay $329.99 for it.
The handset is expected to become available for purchase as soon as March 10.

Verizon’s Android-Powered Motorola Devour Debuts Exclusively at Best Buy Stores
The Motorola Devour, Verizon’s third smartphone running Google’s Android OS, is being released today. At launch, the only brick-and-mortar store offering this mid-range device with a sliding keyboard is Best Buy, but a few other online retailers have it as well.
The Devour is a mid-range model with a sliding keyboard, Wi-Fi, and 3G mobile broadband. Best Buy is selling for $100 to new Verizon subscribers who sign a two-year service contract.

Android Firmware 1.3.18 for Motorola Cliq Brings Issues Along
Mobile phone maker Motorola has recently delivered a new software solution for their first Android-based handset, the Motorola Cliq. The software update 1.3.18 was released over-the-air for all users of a Cliq on T-Mobile, and it seems that the firmware created a lot of issues, tough it was supposed to solve others.
However, a wide range of T-Mobile customers are already reporting on the forums that there are a lot of issues the new solution created, and that some of them are rather serious problems, it seems. Among the issues Cliq owners are reporting on the forums, we can count a problem with the date/time, (set at 31 December 1969 and cannot be changed); problems with the touch keyboard; force close error for Google Voice; issues with the text messages; Gmail, calendar and contacts are also not syncing; or battery life problems. At the same time, there are also some reporting that, following the update, the following message was received, “Error Signing Into account: There is a problem with the clock on the device. Please contact customer service.”
According to the mobile phone carrier, they are aware of the situation and are working on resolving the problems as soon as possible.
