The phone known as the Motorola Opus One is going to be named the Boost Mobile i1. The i1 was recently spotted on the FCC web site and is expected to be announced during CTIA later this month.

Motorola is aiming for the low end and the i1 might be the lowest priced Android device at launch. Look for this phone to debut under $300.

As many Droid owners know, Motorola promised the Android 2.1 update was coming “this week” which later turned into coming soon. No further updates have been provided since then, but someone leaked a near final firmware (which is expected to be used for the upcoming OTA update).

Kellex from Droid Life was brave enough to flash the leaked ROM on his Droid and found the performance to be improved.

We expect T-Mobile to launch the CLIQ XT March 10, 2010 and we are still waiting on a price. This phone is essentially the same hardware of the original CLIQ minus the physical keyboard, so expect it to land somewhere around $149 with 2 year contract.

Unfortunately, the device will ship with Android 1.5 which does not support many of the new native applications from Google.

Motorola droid 2.1 update

Turns out all that excitement and frothing at the mouth was for nothing, as Motorola’s surprisingly nippy move to Android 2.1 on the Droid isn’t going to be all that rapid after all. The Moto Owners’ Forum manager has admitted that a few trigger-happy souls rushed out the details of the Droid’s upcoming OS update ahead of time, and the current situation is quite as it was before this news: your Droid will be chomping down on an Eclair, just not as soon as you might have been led to hope.

What is this Motorola Android phone?

The folks at Gizmodo Brazil got their mitts on this device, and it looks like a Backflip without the crazy keyboard. The front is described as “more garish” than the Backflip. It’s running MotoBlur.

Because it has MotoBlur, it’s running Android 1.5. There’s no way to tell if this will get a wide release in European and the U.S. market.
