French Motorola Milestone owners have recently gotten the Android 2.0.1 update.

Apparently, the latest upgrade significantly enhances the camera (auto-focus and speed), Microsoft Exchange support, touch gestures, three-way call connectivity and in-call audio quality. Additionally, the company has added an equalizer and a 3D landscape viewing mode for the photo gallery and music player.

Reportedly, according to Motorola Europe’s Facebook Page, Italy should also be getting the Android 2.0.1 update right now, while Germany and the UK will follow shortly.

Some Droid Users Report Exchange Issues

Several Motorola Droid users have reported issues with the smartphone’s Exchange support, including no support at all for Exchange servers when certain enhanced security features are enabled.

For example, users cannot wipe a mobile device from the Exchange server in the event of loss or theft, and there is no option to force a user to enter a PIN specific to that user’s device before accessing Exchange mail.

When asked about the issue, a Google spokesperson responded, “We’re working to add additional Exchange security features to Android, but we don’t have any details or timelines to announce at this time.”

This neither acknowledges the problem nor dismisses it. In the meantime, forums around the Web are buzzing, recommending that enterprise users avoid the Droid for the time being. And third-party apps such as TouchDown by NitroDesk have stepped in to fill the void until Google provides the necessary updates.
