The Motorola Cliq firmware 1.4.8 update for T-Mobile USA has a number of enhancements but you must be aware it does not upgrade the Motorola Cliq with Google’s Android 2.1 OS.

Improvements do include better battery life and increased touchscreen sensitivity, other features include enhanced support for Bluetooth, the ability to listen to visual voicemail with a wireless headset and the handset will work better with car kits.

This new update will also give newer versions of Google applications like Google Talk, Maps, Market and YouTube etc. Will also give support for viewing documents in Microsoft Office 2007 with Quickoffice bundled with smartone.

Mobile phone maker Motorola and wireless carrier T-Mobile have started the deployment of a new update for the users of a Motorola CLIQ handset, namely software update 1.4.8. The new solution comes with a series of improvements for the phone’s battery, touchscreen, and Bluetooth functionality, and others more, the handset vendor announced. However, it seems that the new solution won’t bring Android 2.1 on the device, even if users might have expected for that to happen.

Among the other improvements the new software update 1.4.8 brings to CLIQ, we can count:
- General improvements to text messaging – especially for longer message threads
- Enhances audio quality in certain scenarios in which users experienced issues
- The “End Call” key was relocated within the calling screen to reduce instances of unintentionally ending Active calls
- Improves user interface performance-consistently notifying the user when a new call is coming in which reduces missed call notifications
- Additional device stability reduces occurrence of unresponsiveness and/or programs quitting unexpectedly
- Adds the ability to view documents in Microsoft Office 2007 format.
