Motorola XT800 to bring high-end Android to Sprint?
Motorola has been developing a high-end full touchscreen phone that could give American CDMA carriers their first high-end, touch-only Android phone from the company. A pair of leaks show the XT800 to center on an 854×480, 3.7-inch touchscreen like that of the Droid but in a more rounded design. It should additionally be more powerful: it should play 720p video to a TV through an HDMI output and capture the same resolution for videos from its 5-megapixel camera.
An FCC filing hints the XT800 may arrive in the US next year as the Titanium with EVDO Revision A and destined for either Sprint or Verizon. The former is the most likely as Motorola is already expected to provide a keyboardless Droid early next year.

Motorola Invests In Sensitive Object
While Motorola is certainly enjoying the success of the Motorola Droid, it’s also looking forward to the future, and the company has recently announced an investment in a firm called Sensitive Object. Sensitive Object has apparently developed a technology that can analyze acoustic waves from the point of contact on the screen. What does that mean? Well, it could potentially give any device touch screen capabilities.

Secret Motorola LaJolla could be the cheapest Motorola Android phone yet
Motorola recently released the source code for the CLIQ Android phone. Hidden inside the code was mention of several other upcoming Android phones. The usbloader makes specific mention of the Morrison (CLIQ), Motus, and Zeppelin which were revealed in the leaked Motorola roadmap.
Also included was the codename for a brand new Android phone, the Motorola LaJolla with the following specs:
- Qualcomm 7201A Processor (528 MHz ARM11)
- MAX7359 Keypad
- Kionix 3-axis accelerometer driver for LaJolla board.
- Motorola Halo i2c touchscreen (240 x 400)
The most interesting feature of LaJolla was the display which features a 240×400 resolution. That was an unsupported screen size for Android, until today. Google just released the latest Android 2.0.1 SDK which includes support for several new screen sizes. One of the new standards is WQVGA (Widescreen quarter VGA) which has a 240×400 low density screen. With its small screen, the LaJolla could be one of these $150-250 devices that Motorola has been alluding to. Current Android phones from Motorola are priced at $399 (CLIQ) and $559 (Droid).

Motorola CLIQ receives an OTA update

Motorola CLIQ owners have long had a list of complaints about their device, but Motorola is hoping that an OTA update released yesterday will fix the majority of users’ woes. The update doesn’t do anything to change the fact the device runs on Android 1.5, but it does bump up the system version to 1.1.31. It does improve battery life and touchscreen sensitivity, better Bluetooth all around, accelerometer refinements and more

Motorola Cliq Review: Better Than the Motorola Droid?
The Motorola Droid may be grabbing all the headlines, but it’s not the company’s only — or first — Android-based smartphone. That honor belongs to the Motorola Cliq, which is just about as different from the Droid as an Android-based smartphone could be. And about.com think they like it just a bit better.
Here is part of their review of the Motorola Cliq:
Design
Like the Droid, the Cliq is a slider-style phone, but where the Droid is square and angular, the Cliq is soft and round — and that’s a good thing. I found it much more appealing to look at and more comfortable to hold than the Droid.
When the phone is closed, you see the 3.1-inch touch screen and three touch-sensitive buttons beneath it. The screen is smaller than I’d like, but not so much that it’s unusable. It sports a high resolution (480 by 320 pixels), which helps makes everything look nice and crisp.
The full QWERTY keyboard slides out easily from beneath the display, and is very comfortable to use. The keys are close together, but they’re nicely raised, making them easy to locate and press.

Bottom Line
The Cliq’s Motoblur interface will appeal to social networking fanatics, but anyone else may find it just a bit too much. Underneath that, though, the Cliq is a good-looking, easy-to-use Android phone.
