New Details Leak on Droid Xtreme, or ‘Shadow’
Goodbye Shadow, hello Xtreme. New images and details have surfaced of Motorola’s Droid Shadow phone—now branded the Droid Xtreme—which was previously alleged to have been lost in a Verizon gym last week.
According to DroidLife, the new phone is definitely sporting an 8-megapixel camera and an “HD Video” label around the lens indicates that it’ll be able to shoot movies at a resolution of 720p at least.
The phone’s UI will run a partially customized UI based on Android 2.1 – at least according to the current batch of pictures that highlight the Xtreme’s interface. It’s unclear whether Motorola will opt for a last-minute upgrade to Android 2.2, or “Froyo,” prior to the device’s rumored July or August release.

What is this mysterious Motorola Android device?
The guys at mobile.cz somehow managed to scrounge up this shot, and they’re calling it the Motorola “Zeppelin”.
According to the original source, its packing a 5 megapixel camera, a 3.2″ HVGA display, GPS, and Android behind Motorola’s BLUR user interface. It also looks to have touch sensitive keys, and what is either a D-pad or a touch sensitive trackpad right below the screen.
It’s a bit lower end than the Droid, but a bit higher end than the CLIQ.

Motorola’s next Verizon Android phone pops up in inventory

Verizon’s Cellebrite inventory system showing, next to the Motorola Calgary (otherwise known as the DROID Devour), an Android-powered handset which neither Motorola nor Verizon has officially confirmed yet. You can think of it as the Droid’s younger, ganglier sister; it’s a bit strange looking, a lesser camera (3 megapixels instead of 5), and Motorola’s social-network-centric BLUR user interface.
As mentioned, Verizon’s still keeping mum on this handset, so there’s no word yet on pricing or availability.

Motorola DROID OTA schedule
A clear explanation from a VZW connect that outlines how the OTA updates work for the Motorola DROID. At noon today, approximately 1,000 people received the notification to update their handset. At around midnight this evening, 9,000 more will receive it. After the initial 10,000, there is a 48-hour waiting period. THE DROID IS DEAD
ADEO RESSI, who is the founding member of TheFunded.com, wrote a blog post yesterday on why he return his Motorola Droid:
- Keyboard is hard to use.
- Camera takes lower quality photos and video.
- Dropped calls.
- Ghetto app store.
- No Google Docs.
- Slow browser.
- No multitouch.
- Sluggish at times.
- Crackly speakerphone.
- Weak audio/video player experience.
He did mention some good things:
- Nicer Gmail.
- Removable battery!
- A flash.
- Clearer screen.
- Some UI niceties, like persistent status and system updates.
- Turn-by-turn navigation.
- The constant singing of “droid.”
Overall he says: INFERIOR PRODUCT to the iPhone.
What do you think?
