Verizon: Use your Motorola Droid or HTC Imagio as a FiOS TV remote
Verizon posted a note on its forums that says FiOS TV customers can use their Verizon Wireless Android powered Motorola DROID or the Windows Mobile powered HTC Imagio as a remote to control their FiOS set-top box. The software allows you to control channels, pause/rewind/face forward, set parental controls, record TV shows, and even transfer photos from your phone to your television. If a phone call comes through, your TV will be automatically muted.

Motorola tells DROID owners to chill, Android 2.1 will be here soon
After Motorola apparently was premature in telling DROID owners to expect Android 2.1 to be sent to their machine this week, owners of Motorola’s flagship device were nursing broken hearts. Motorola removed all posts in its forum and web site having to do with the upgrade, including a list of what changes the upgrade was to bring to the DROID.
In response to an email from Phonescoop, Motorola said on Thursday, “The Droid over-the-air software upgrade is expected to rollout soon. It will automatically be pushed to phones when ready and Verizon Wireless customers will only have to accept the free download for continued use and enjoyment of this feature packed device.”

Motorola Android MOTOROI Coming To T-Mobile USA?
Earlier reports indicated that Motorola Android MOTOROI might be available on Verizon Wireless, but now word is going around that T-Mobile might be the carrier that will be offering this interestingly-shaped phone. While there isn’t any official word on this just yet, leaked reports a while back indicated that a version of the Motorola Droid without a sliding keyboard would be headed towards T-Mobile, and the MOTOROI would fit that bill nicely. Aside from that, earlier information regarding this phone included descriptions such as “Sholes Tablet T-Mobile US”, not to mention that the FCC approved a phone code-named Sholes, which would support T-Mobile USA’s unique 3G network.

RIM May Feel Android Effect
The growing number of smartphones using the Android operating system, like the Motorola Droid, is expected to impact the BlackBerry maker’s quarterly report
Verizon Wireless made clear from the start that its Droid smartphone was designed to put pressure on Apple, the maker of the iPhone, and AT&T (T), the exclusive U.S. iPhone carrier. As part of a $100 million marketing push, Verizon Wireless enumerates several ways it believes the Droid outperforms the iPhone.
Yet analysts say the Droid and other devices that sport the Android operating system may also take a toll on Research In Motion, the maker of another smartphone, the BlackBerry. “It’s clear there’s been a lot of marketing at Verizon around the Droid, so that is going to hurt RIM,” says Raymond James (RJF) analyst Steve Li.
On Dec. 17, investors will get a glimpse of how big an impact, if any, when Research In Motion releases results for the quarter that ended Nov. 28. Verizon Wireless, owned by Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group, began selling the Droid on Nov. 6. Other Android phones have been available longer, but the Motorola phone carried by Verizon Wireless has received some of the most glowing reviews and is generating the greatest buzz.
Mobile analytics firm Flurry estimated that the Droid sold as many as 250,000 units its first weekend on the market. Droid sales neared 1 million by the end of November, according to RBC Capital Markets analysts. Neither Motorola nor Verizon Wireless has released an official tally.

Unknown Motorola Android Titanium visits FCC en route to Verizon or Sprint?
The previously unknown Motorola Titanium visited the FCC with some information that lets us make an educated guess as to which carrier(s) this handset will end up on. The device runs over Ev-Do rev. A which tells us that the Titanium looks Verizon or Sprint bound. Wi-Fi is enabled on this phone and since Motorola is not really doing much in the way of Windows Mobile gadgets these days, we can make the assumption that this will be powered by Android.
